CPL Aromas has collaborated with Tasha Marks of AVM Curiosities on a scented masterpiece for the newly opened Denney Edition at The National Trust’s Rainham Hall in Essex, UK.
The exhibition takes a look at the world of Anthony Denney, a fashion photographer, interior designer, art connoisseur and 20th Century style icon who exerted enormous influence on post-war Britain. Denney lived at Rainham Hall as a tenant for 5 years in the 60’s and is known as one of the most intriguing tenants to have lived there.
The National Trust partnered up with creative company The Decorators alongside local designers and craftspeople to transform the hall into a living magazine to showcase Denney’s life and work. The magazine inspired installation, that covers various spaces throughout the Hall, includes everything from objects and photographs from his personal life as well as ceramics, flower arrangements, and installations representing fashion, jewellery, art, interiors, food, gardening and travel.
CPL Aromas worked with Tasha Marks to create the Scenterpiece, a beautiful installation of scented ceramic fruit, in celebration of Denney’s food still-lives. The piece was created in collaboration with artist Justin Hounam, with support from students of Havering College, who created the bounty of ceramic fruits using a slip-casting method. The fruits were then infused with fragrances to create a scented menu, curated by Tasha Marks and inspired by some of Denney’s published photographs and his historical cookbook collection. The CPL created fragrances captured in the installation are Stewed Pears with a delightful hint of clove. An orange peel, thyme and bay leaf blend to create an Oranges and Bouquet Garni scent and Figs and Summer which was inspired by figs and fresh air.
Global Marketing and Brand Director, Angela Stavrevska said of the collaboration “It’s always great fun working with Tasha and this project was no exception. The Scenterpiece is a beautiful installation and it was great to be involved in such an interesting Edition”
The Denney Edition opened at Rainham Hall on the 29th June 2019 and will be running until June 2021. Head down and be inspired by the vast range of creations on show and get an insight into the numerous sides of Anthony Denney’s influential character.
