CPL Aromas’ team of worldwide perfumers gathered in Sicily, Italy from October 15th – 18th to attend the latest biennial Perfumers Conference. The four-day event provided a great forum for all perfumers and technical team members to share information, discuss industry trends and inspire creativity.
The conference was chaired by CPL’s Global Director of Perfumery, Christian Provenzano and included perfumers from: India, China, Korea, Indonesia, Colombia, UK, France, Germany and Dubai.
Chris Pickthall, CEO opened the conference presenting the delegates with a trading update. This was followed by a packed day of presentations and fragrance evaluation across a broad variety of subjects ranging from CPL’s Aromafusion raw materials to global soap trends.
During this unique forum each perfumer was given time to present their new creations which were created especially for the event - some truly excellent and innovative new fragrances were featured.
Capua, a leading extractor and processor of Italian citrus oils hosted the second day of the conference, treating the team to a tour of Capua’s mandarin fruit processing facility, followed by a ride out to the Capua bergamot groves in San Carlo. A tour of the facilities at the main Capua site educated the perfumers on Capua’s oil distillation and fractionation capabilities and was followed by a presentation of some of Capua’s classic citrus oils and some new citrus products.
The presentations given by numerous CPL staff included fine fragrance reports, that explored the minimalism trend from an olfactive perspective, and technology updates that encompassed new software that can be utilised to predict performance of encapsulated fragrances for CPL’s Aromacore.
The conference is always a great success and is the ideal platform to update the delegates on new developments and to inspire new work.
